Here’s how to develop a night time routine for incredible peak performance. We’re going to use some ingenious mind tricks at night , so by the time your work colleagues are slithering into the office, you’re cranking away at your best.
First we’re going to develop a killer ‘inner game’ by programming your mind with self-hypnotic suggestions intentions at night.
Hypnosis works by leading you into states of deep physical, then mental relaxation, then imprinting your subconscious mind with the desired instructions.
Luckily any time you go to sleep you cruise through the exact same states of mind a professional hypnotherapist uses when working with clients.
The last thing on your mind as you drift off to sleep gets deeply embedded in your subconscious mind, and what do most people do last thing at night? They sit there and worry, or replay the days events over and over, or watch mental re-runs of the late night TV they just watched. Urgh.
What we’re going to start with is feeding your subconscious some better brain food – filling it with powerful suggestions it WILL carry out for you.
On to tonight’s experiment – I want you to pay attention to how you feel as you’re drifting off to sleep tonight and remain aware a little longer than usual. Let you body get so deeply relaxed that it feels like you’re floating like a marshmallow on a warm sea of hot chocolate… yum!
Now, you’ll probably notice if you’re paying attention that your senses start to withdraw, your awareness of the external world contracts as you slide deeper into sleep.
This is the ideal time to feed your brain some useful input so start by repeating over and over mentally beneficial statements like ‘when I awake I’ll feel incredibly refreshed and bursting with energy, as if I’ve slept for 3 days!’. Repeat this firmly at least 10-15 times.
Experiment with the number of repetitions needed, you might need more, might need less. Generally speaking the deeper the state and the stronger the intention, the less repetitions you’ll need to get consistent results.
Once you’ve got the hang of that, experiment with ‘outsourcing’ some thinking work to your brain while you sleep. Use the same basic process – repeating your order over and over about 10-15 times .
If you want creative solutions to problems, ideas for writing about, business building aha’s or virtually any kind of creative work use this technique – simply tell your subconscious mind that you ‘I will wake up with a fantastic idea for project X’.
When you awaken in the morning, just stay still and relaxed for a moment and let the ideas that have been simmering in your mind overnight float fully into awareness and write them down. You might find you have them when you start to work, or you might find they hit you in the shower, but done correctly you will have lots of them.
